President Trump's Being Booed at the World Series Highlights Our Nation's Strengths and Weaknesses
President Trump was met with what I'd say were mostly boos during Game 5 of the World Series earlier this week.
On the one hand, it showcases one of the most free populations in the world and their right to freedom of speech, especially when so many people around the world are fighting for similar freedoms.
On the other hand, it really shows just how little respect is given to the Office of the President of the United States and to any figure of authority in general. Not to mention is displays great weakness from our country to the rest of the world.
In the end, I admit the freedom to express our opinions is more important than some sense of national unity or some sense of traditional values I hold onto for one reason or another.
Until we have both a respected leader and reasonable political discourse in this country, I'm afraid for most exercising their freedom of speech in a respectful way is too much to ask. I hope that changes soon.
